Key responsibilities & impact

Deliver high-quality, reliable, and stable technologies and security capabilities supporting the Starbucks Engineering Platform
Install, configure, monitor, analyze, maintain, and technically support the platform
Communicate highly complex ideas and concepts to non-technical peers and customers
Establish cross-functional, collaborative relationships with business and technology partners
Support the development team and resolve developer issues in a timely and accurate fashion
Engineer build and release processes
Manage and partner with technology vendors to deliver business objectives
Conduct research and recommend standards, products, and services
Ensure application and infrastructure architectural solutions are stable, secure, and compliant
Implement technologies according to Information Security principles for highly sensitive data
Provide high-availability operational support and automate solutions across the environment
Implement deep telemetry capabilities for ongoing success and performance metrics
Implement service monitoring across platforms to ensure continuous availability and operational continuity
Uphold company policies and legal/regulatory requirements such as PCI
Implement and maintain system configurations and baselines supporting secure application development software control practices and standards

Requirements

What you’ll need

4-8 years of professional industry experience with software development
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field
5+ years of experience in system administration, network administration, and systems engineering
5+ years of experience in one or more of: C, C++, Java, Python
3+ years of experience with NoSQL and SQL databases
3+ years of experience with large-scale distributed systems and client-server architectures
Demonstrated ability to debug and optimize code and automate routine tasks
Interest in designing, analyzing, and troubleshooting large-scale distributed systems
Proven ability to translate insights into business recommendations
Knowledge in application development and supporting a development environment
Experience with cloud computing platforms such as Amazon AWS, Microsoft Azure, or Google App Engine
Knowledge and understanding of legal and regulatory requirements, including SOX, PCI, HIPAA, and Data Protection
Demonstrated experience implementing and managing high-capacity, redundant, mission-critical environments
Knowledge of databases and comfort with various database technologies
Proficiency in TCP/IP networking, architecture, and core technologies including DNS, routing, iptables, and tc
Experience running and maintaining a 24x7 production environment
