About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Manage and grow an assigned account portfolio
- Develop trust relationships with customers to maintain and improve profitability
- Conduct regular site visits and customer check-ins
- Manage estimates, orders, projects, and owned accounts
- Follow up and requote projects to meet or exceed revenue, margin, and growth targets
- Work closely with branches to prioritise accurate customer orders aligned with site schedules and delivery requirements
- Provide specification and product data
- Support branches with onboarding new accounts and sustaining customer spend
- Understand customer needs and continuously propose suitable solutions
- Reactivate dormant and lapsed accounts
- Target, open, and grow new customer accounts
- Build supplier relationships and partner to secure and grow customer business
- Collaborate with branches and colleagues to overcome challenges and deliver consistent customer outcomes
Requirements
What you’ll need- Experience within a sales, account management, or customer support role
- Commercial and pricing awareness of margins, rebates, delivery charges, and credit processes
- Clear and professional communication across phone, email, and in-person interactions
- Ability to build relationships with customers at all levels, local branches, suppliers, and regional support teams
- Project coordination, prioritisation, and multitasking skills
- Organisational skills with ability to manage your own diary
- Full UK Driving licence
- Experience within a builders’ merchant, supplier, or construction-related role is desirable
