About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Support daily living routines, including meals, hygiene, and organization
- Assist with community access, shopping, errands, and outings
- Provide emotional regulation support using calm, structured approaches
- Maintain clear boundaries and consistent expectations
- Assist with household upkeep and organization
- Encourage independence and personal responsibility
- Communicate updates with care teams
- Complete required documentation
- Help maintain a safe, predictable, and respectful environment
- Provide mobility support and transfer monitoring as needed
- Assist with meal planning and preparation, budgeting, personal hygiene, and transportation depending on customer assignment
Requirements
What you’ll need- Must be 18 years or older
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
- Current auto insurance (meeting state requirements)
- Ability to pass a background check (not all records are disqualifying)
- Comfortable supporting personal care needs
- Preferred: Experience in caregiving, DSP, behavioral support, or IDD roles
- Preferred: Experience supporting individuals with I/DD
- Preferred: Strong communication and boundary-setting skills
- Preferred: CPR/First Aid certification
- No prior DSP experience required; paid training provided
- Ability to support individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities
- Ability to provide behavioral, emotional regulation, and crisis support
- American Sign Language fluency for Customer 481 assignment
