About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Lead, develop, and expand a team of Property Underwriters, providing coaching, direction, and technical expertise
  • Manage and grow a profitable portfolio of retail middle market property business
  • Solicit and review new and renewal property submissions from retail brokers
  • Serve as a senior point of contact and subject matter expert for clients, brokers, and internal stakeholders
  • Lead new and renewal strategy discussions and presentations with clients and brokers
  • Provide underwriting guidance and support on complex or significant risks within the region
  • Report directly to the Head of Retail Middle Market Property

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, Finance, Risk Management, Insurance, Accounting, Economics, or related field is preferred
  • 7-12+ years of direct property underwriting experience, preferably in retail middle market or commercial lines
  • Deep technical knowledge of middle-to-large commercial property underwriting, including risk selection, pricing, coverage, exposure management, and portfolio strategy
  • Strong communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills
  • Proven ability to manage and grow a profitable book of business
  • Strong presentation skills
  • Effective decision-making in complex situations
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and prioritization skills
