About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Work under the direction of the Medical Director of OCFS and the Child Wellbeing Supervisor
  • Collaborate with OCFS staff, medical providers, social service providers, community collaboratives, taskforces, and workgroups
  • Provide consultation to OCFS staff regarding children in foster care with unique and complex medical needs
  • Provide quality improvement training for direct line staff
  • Gather and document information about the well-being of children in foster care
  • Follow up to ensure identified needs are addressed, including immunizations, initial medical appointments, comprehensive medical evaluations, and well-child checks
  • Oversee and monitor psychotropic medications prescribed to children and youth in foster care
  • Pull and review monthly psychotropic medication reports in accordance with the Desk Level Procedure Guide
  • Support the health and well-being of children and youth in foster care
  • May require statewide travel

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing or related field
  • Competency in case management, medication management, child welfare, and/or behavioral health management
  • Valid license as a Registered Nurse issued by the Maine State Board of Nursing
  • Knowledge of child health and well-being, including development and recommended medical, dental, and mental health care
  • Knowledge of child welfare, child abuse and neglect, children’s behavioral health, and trauma-informed systems of care
  • Knowledge of pharmacological and non-pharmacological treatments for developmental, behavioral, and mental health conditions of children and adolescents
  • Cover letter addressing skills and/or prior experience in the preferred knowledge areas
  • Recent resume, if available
  • Ability to submit documents in PDF or Word format
  • Not eligible for visa sponsorship or STEM OPT extensions
