About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Ensure Maine home health agencies, hospitals, hospices, ambulatory surgical centers, dialysis centers, ICF/IIDs, portable x-ray providers, outpatient therapy providers, and rural health centers comply with relevant State and federal regulations and laws
- Work in teams of 2–3 to determine whether facilities meet certification or licensing requirements
- Investigate complaints of neglect, abuse, and other issues
- Participate in writing statements of deficiencies using CMS Principles of Documentation
- Conduct pre-survey document reviews
- Participate in entrance and exit conferences with facility leadership
- Participate in mandatory CMS training and other training
- Perform other related duties as assigned
- Work in facilities and either at home or in DHHS offices in Augusta, Lewiston, or Portland
- Travel statewide, often including overnight travel
Requirements
What you’ll need- Registered Nurse
- Three (3) years of progressively responsible experience in the field of nursing and/or in the delivery of health care services
- Licensed as a Registered Professional Nurse in the State of Maine, as issued by the State Board of Nursing
- Preferred: Experience working as a nurse in hospitals, particularly medical/surgical, emergency department, operating room, or intensive care unit
- Preferred: Experience working as a nurse in ambulatory surgical centers, home health care agencies, dialysis facilities, or hospices
- Preferred: Demonstrated excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Preferred: Knowledge of or willingness to learn federal and state regulatory requirements for acute healthcare facilities
- Currently, this position is not eligible for visa sponsorship or STEM OPT extensions
