About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Co-lead the product management team and advance the product management practice
  • Empower product managers to lead their teams effectively
  • Champion product management excellence and maintain organizational best practices and standards
  • Oversee project staffing and advise project teams in achieving outcomes
  • Contribute to hiring and onboarding product managers
  • Mentor and coach product managers through regular one-on-one meetings, feedback, and professional development support
  • Guide end-to-end product and project management activities
  • Participate in user research, analysis, synthesis, and agile product development
  • Manage project teams and coordinate activities across teammates
  • Build product-thinking capacity across the team and State
  • Work with government department and agency teams on roadmaps and product strategy
  • Share product practices externally and stay current on civic tech and product developments
  • Report to the Chief Innovation Officer and collaborate with the current Director of Product, initiative leads, and cross-functional directors

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Minimum 7 years of professional experience in agile product management
  • At least 2 years of professional experience in people management and product leadership
  • Experience guiding end-to-end product development from concept through launch and ongoing iteration
  • Experience managing and scaling a product team
  • Experience developing and implementing product strategies, including roadmap planning, prioritization, and execution
  • Strong stakeholder engagement skills and experience collaborating with design, engineering, and external partners
  • Knowledge of industry trends and civic tech developments
  • Experience solving complex problems using human-centered design, agile iterative development, and data-driven decision making
  • Skill in understanding user needs and developing optimal solutions
  • Commitment to public service, accessibility, and inclusion
  • Authorized to work in the United States
  • May be required to pass a background check and complete additional onboarding steps
