About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Assist with day-to-day management of the Acquisition Program, including pre- and post-award activities
- Review and score annual Acquisition applications
- Prepare and negotiate contracts with grantees
- Monitor implementation of assigned active contracts
- Meet with grantees for progress reporting
- Coordinate with grantees and Acquisition and Legal teams on acquisition closings and project close-out
- Review and approve weekly payment requests as first-line approver and back-up to the Program Manager
- Assist grant recipients with contract and scope management
- Review real estate documents, including appraisals, deeds, conservation easements, title, and plats
- Participate in status meetings with the Acquisition Team and DNCR Legal
- Identify obstacles, troubleshoot issues, and help improve Acquisition Program processes
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor's degree in agricultural, biological, engineering, environmental, or natural resource sciences, or a closely related curriculum, from an appropriately accredited institution
- Two years of experience related to the area of assignment
- Equivalent combination of education and experience may qualify
- Valid driver’s license issued within the United States, or ability to obtain one within 90 days of employment
- Availability Monday–Friday, 8:30 a.m.–5:00 p.m.
- Experience with state or federal grant administration, including contract and budget review (preferred)
- Experience in land conservation, including fee simple and/or conservation easement acquisitions (preferred)
- Skills in verbal and written communication, budget analysis, problem-solving, and organization (preferred)
- Ability to work with diverse, non-co-located teams (preferred)
- Familiarity with ArcGIS, Google Earth, and public land records (preferred)
- Proof of employment eligibility on the first day of employment; participation in E-Verify
