About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Perform professional financial and analytical work detecting and investigating criminal violations, specifically human trafficking
  • Conduct complex financial analysis
  • Assist Special Agents in documenting and organizing case information for prosecutor review
  • Present topics related to the financial aspects of human trafficking
  • Identify and protect victims of human trafficking
  • Investigate sex trafficking, child sex trafficking, and labor trafficking using a victim-centered, multi-disciplinary approach
  • Work with fellow members of the law enforcement community and support local law enforcement across North Carolina
  • Report Monday–Friday to one of eight regionally located district offices closest to the employee’s residence

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business administration or criminal justice from an appropriately accredited institution
  • Eighteen credit hours of accounting coursework
  • Two years of experience in auditing and/or investigating tax, financial, or securities crimes, or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Demonstrated knowledge of accounting and auditing principles and practices
  • Demonstrated experience analyzing accounting and financial systems and practices to trace the flow of funds or other assets through intricate schemes and complicated attempts to disguise transactions
  • Demonstrated experience presenting, communicating, and conveying examination findings in oral and written form
  • Ability to work 8:00am–5:00pm, Monday through Friday
  • Ability to travel overnight occasionally
  • Successful completion of a comprehensive background investigation, including pre-employment polygraph, credit and arrest checks, reference and employment verification, medical examination, urinalysis drug screening, and fingerprint submission
  • Proof of employment eligibility on the first day of employment
  • College transcripts including accounting coursework
