About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Inspect vehicle scales used in retail trade
- Inspect livestock scales used in livestock marketing as required by the Packers and Stockyards Administration of the USDA
- Inspect monorail and beam scales
- Test warehouse and portable platform scales
- Inspect hopper scales used by DOT
- Investigate consumer complaints
- Ensure compliance with the public weighmaster law
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with wholesalers, retailers, and other users and operators of regulated weighing and measuring devices
- Travel overnight as required
- Complete field-based job tasks using a state vehicle
Requirements
What you’ll need- High school or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and one year of related work experience in the gas and oil industry or the scales industry; or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Must possess a valid NC CDL driver’s license
- Must provide a current DOT Medical Examiner’s Certificate
- Ability to communicate in oral and written form
- Basic computer skills
- Ability to do basic math
- Ability to lift and carry approximately 50 pounds
- Must live within Anson, Cabarrus, Davidson, Davie, Forsyth, Guilford, Iredell, Mecklenburg, Montgomery, Moore, Randolph, Richmond, Rockingham, Rowan, Scotland, Stanley, Stokes, Surry, Union, or Yadkin County, North Carolina
- Must undergo pre-employment fitness for duty/drug screening
- Must obtain a U.S. Department of Transportation medical certificate prior to employment
