About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Provide services and assistance to taxpayers, customers, or clients
- Resolve questions and problems concerning state laws or agency policies and procedures
- Respond to requests for publications and forms
- Analyze information to determine the nature of problems
- Advise customers on laws, policies, and procedures related to agency business operations
- Review and analyze requests concerning filing requirements, due dates, registration procedures, and related information
- Research laws and rules to respond to requests
- Coordinate with other divisions or units to clarify policies, determine account status, issue clearances, and resolve problems
- Route requests for materials, publications, or information to appropriate units
- Review and edit forms to verify computations, status, and other data
- Determine reporting requirements based on business activity and related laws
- Review records to identify tax accounts that can be closed
- Conduct inventories of publications, forms, supplies, and other materials
- Maintain records, files, reports, and other materials
- Serve walk-in, telephone, and written inquiries
- Be present at the office as an essential job function
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
What you’ll need- One year of experience in clerical office work or as a customer service representative; or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Thirty semester hours of college, including six semesters in business or public administration, may substitute for the required experience
- Knowledge of office methods and procedures, grammar, punctuation and spelling, mathematics, basic bookkeeping, inventory techniques, telephone procedures, standard business communications, and current office technologies
- Ability to operate computers and office machines
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions, maintain filing systems, analyze situations, and make decisions according to rules, laws, and regulations
- Good customer, interpersonal, and communication skills
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without visa sponsorship
- Subject to a background check
- Must be willing to complete all job-related travel associated with the position
