About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Analyze, design, debug, develop, and unit test medium- to large-scale software enhancements and solutions
  • Support Fixed Income and derivatives processing for vendor applications such as SUMMIT and State Street custom code
  • Provide thought leadership in back-end and front-end functionality, operational workflow, and business solutions
  • Collaborate with Business Analysts, QA teams, and Product Owners to convert business requirements into sustainable software solutions
  • Write design, development, and application-functionality documentation
  • Participate in business analysis, functional and technical specification reviews, code reviews, and automation/SQA test reviews
  • Participate in change management, deployment, and production implementation of large-scale upgrades and changes
  • Develop, test, debug, and implement software using Unix, C#, C++, Java, Python, J2EE, Tomcat, web services, distributed computing, shell scripting, Autosys, and related tools
  • Troubleshoot mission-critical system upgrades and client/regulatory-specific implementations
  • Conduct manual and automated unit tests and system integration testing with upstream and downstream systems
  • Maintain stable, error- and incident-free production and test environments across North America and EMEA while upholding SLAs and maintaining system feeds
  • Improve development and test methodologies and use GitHub, Jira, Agile methodology, and cloud development frameworks including continuous development and integration

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 8 to 10 years of progressively responsible professional software engineering experience
  • Preferably experience in a financial services product delivery setting
  • B.S. or M.S. degree in software engineering, computer science, or related field is preferred
  • 5 to 7 years of experience in the financial services industry
  • Experience developing solutions for Portfolio Management, Trading, Compliance, Settlement, Post-Trade processing, Accounting, Pricing, Accruals, and P&L calculations
  • Knowledge of fixed-income products, processing, and interest rate derivatives is strongly desirable
  • Experience working with SUMMIT and implementing its upgrade process is a plus
  • Authoritative experience with Unix and shell scripting
  • Experience with application-side and database-side performance tuning using Oracle technologies is highly desirable
  • Knowledge of cloud technologies related to AWS and Azure
  • Experience migrating or implementing from on-premises to public cloud is a plus
  • Excellent teamwork, written and verbal communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively with peers, support teams, and Business Analysts across regions and time zones
  • Ability to contribute to complex design and solve complex business problems in consultation with senior technical staff, the Office of Architecture, and management
  • Ability to work on medium- to large-scale projects and complex tasks with minimal supervision and oversight
