About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Design, build and maintain automated end-to-end tests for a multi-year programme modernizing middle-office applications and moving them to AWS
Build scalable UI automation frameworks using Playwright, Cypress, Selenium WebDriver or WebdriverIO
Write end-to-end tests for ReactJS applications covering trade processing, reconciliation, settlement and operations
Test real-time WebSocket and Server-Sent Events features
Improve test reliability and speed through stable locators, smart waits, parallel execution and flaky-test remediation
Perform cross-browser, accessibility and visual regression testing
Write BDD scenarios and support component-level testing with developers
Automate REST API, contract and event-driven integration testing
Build mock-server and service-virtualisation tests
Compare legacy and modernized system outputs during parallel runs and validate batch and end-of-day processing
Manage masked and realistic financial test data
Build and run load and performance tests
Run test suites in CI/CD pipelines as quality gates
Publish test reports, traces and dashboards
Use AI coding assistants to generate and analyse tests, then review outputs for meaningful coverage
Collaborate with developers, business analysts and subject-matter experts on acceptance criteria and test coverage
Participate in code reviews and promote testable design and shift-left practices
Support cutover rehearsals, release testing and early-life support

Requirements

What you’ll need

5+ years in test automation or software engineering in test
Strong hands-on experience with at least one of Playwright, Cypress, Selenium WebDriver or WebdriverIO, and working knowledge of at least one other
Strong coding skills in TypeScript/JavaScript and/or Java; tests are treated as production code
Experience automating REST API tests with REST Assured, Karate, Postman/Newman or similar
Experience writing and maintaining Cucumber or similar BDD scenarios
Solid understanding of modern ReactJS applications, the DOM, browser dev tools and network inspection
Experience running automated tests in Harness, GitHub Actions or Jenkins pipelines
Ability to write SQL queries to set up and check test data
Git, Docker and agile delivery
Regular use of AI coding assistants in professional work
ISTQB Advanced Test Automation Engineer or equivalent certification is preferred
