Senior Associate, Derivatives
State Street. Carry out basic and complex OTC trade processing and valuation functions .
About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Carry out basic and complex OTC trade processing and valuation functions
- Process trades sent by clients to the OTC Hub and MCH
- Review and audit trades processed by team members for accuracy
- Ensure the OTC valuation team receives proper information to value OTC positions
- Ensure compliance with standard operating procedures and write new procedures where required
- Train new employees until they can perform functions without oversight
- Respond to queries from Accounting, Client Service, reconciliation, internal teams, clients, vendors, and counterparties
- Resolve complex issues and escalate as needed to meet deliverables
- Collaborate with inter-departmental contacts to deliver high-quality work
- Identify risk issues and breaches and follow the risk escalation chain
- Manage assigned tasks and deadlines for self and the team
- Work with the Team Leader and escalate issues requiring management attention
- Support efficient, high-quality client service delivery
- Audit accounting and verification data input and establish process accuracy controls within agreed KPIs
- Review and correct process documentation, including process flows and SOPs, and coach the team
- Understand end-to-end processes and manage upstream/downstream dependencies
- Suggest process improvements and support efficiency and control enhancement projects
- Understand client requirements and guide the team in managing deliverables
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor's degree or above
- 3-6 years of experience in financial services and/or a back-office operations environment
- Derivatives trade processing related experience is a must
- Flexibility with shifts
- Strong MS Office skills; Excel, Word, and PowerPoint knowledge
- Knowledge of database management systems, MS Access, Visual Basic, and Macros would be an added advantage
- Strong mathematical and analytical skills
- Knowledge of derivative instruments, especially OTC derivatives, is a must
- Ability to meet deadlines and solve problems
- Strong attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and as a team player
- Good understanding of financial services and investment products
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities and meet deadlines
- Ability to work well in a fast-paced, high-volume atmosphere
- Good time management skills
