About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Serve as a senior technical authority across the Security Platforms portfolio
  • Act as the senior escalation point for complex technical, operational, and security issues
  • Deputise for the Director of Security Platforms when required
  • Provide portfolio-level technical direction across security capabilities
  • Mentor Technical Security Leads and platform engineering teams
  • Support platform strategy, roadmaps, governance standards, and operating models
  • Lead technical evaluations, proof-of-concepts, and assessments of emerging security technologies
  • Evaluate and govern AI-enabled security technologies and security automation opportunities
  • Partner with Security Operations, Cyber Defence, Detection Engineering, Threat Hunting, Architecture, Engineering, Risk, Compliance, Audit, and business stakeholders
  • Drive platform adoption, service quality improvements, operational effectiveness, and customer satisfaction
  • Lead root-cause analysis and long-term remediation for significant incidents and recurring issues
  • Engage with strategic vendors to influence product direction and maximise platform investment value
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives focused on security outcomes, resilience, automation, and user experience
  • Support regulatory, audit, governance, and risk management activities
  • Promote engineering excellence, technical standards, operational maturity, and service reliability

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 10+ years of experience in cybersecurity, security engineering, security operations, platform engineering, or related technical disciplines
  • Deep expertise across modern security platforms, including endpoint security, identity protection, threat detection, exposure management, security automation, data protection, and AI-enabled security capabilities
  • Broad cybersecurity domain knowledge spanning security operations, detection engineering, threat intelligence, identity security, automation, investigations, cloud security, and security governance
  • Demonstrated ability to provide technical leadership without direct line management responsibility
  • Proven ability to influence strategy, drive technical decisions, and lead through expertise
  • Strong customer and service orientation
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management capabilities
  • Experience operating within large-scale, global, highly regulated environments
  • Strong organisational, governance, programme management, and prioritisation skills
  • Experience supporting enterprise-scale cybersecurity platforms
  • Experience leading major incident response and complex technical investigations
  • Experience defining and delivering security technology roadmaps and strategic initiatives
  • Experience working with senior stakeholders and executive leadership teams
  • Experience managing strategic vendor relationships and technology partnerships
  • Participation in an escalation and on-call rotation as required
  • Ability to operate effectively within a globally distributed organisation
  • Willingness to continuously develop expertise across emerging security technologies and AI-enabled capabilities
