About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Prepare and review quarterly and annual financial statements for insurance and management companies in accordance with UK GAAP and IFRS
  • Prepare combined and consolidated financial statements
  • Prepare quarterly and annual regulatory returns for insurance companies and branches in the UK, Bermuda, Singapore and Hong Kong
  • Act as lead contact for the external audit and liaise with local and component auditors
  • Review ad hoc regulatory/statistical returns for the FCA, ONS, NAIC and others
  • Liaise with tax consultants and submit UK, Singapore and Hong Kong corporation tax returns
  • Review and submit UK VAT returns and Singapore GST returns
  • Conduct monthly reviews of trial balances, work checks and balance sheet reconciliations
  • Review the monthly intercompany matrix
  • Administer Unit 4 Financials by CODA and participate in system upgrades and testing
  • Participate in the Finance and Compliance committees
  • Undertake relevant ad hoc duties requested by line management

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Qualified Chartered Accountant with proven experience in financial and regulatory reporting
  • Experience within the insurance sector, particularly P&I, marine insurance, or wider financial services, highly advantageous
  • Good knowledge of an insurance company’s balance sheet and preparing financial statements on a standalone and consolidated basis
  • Experience preparing Solvency II or other regulatory returns on an economic basis
  • Experience working in insurance, either directly or in an audit capacity
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Exposure to actuarial/reserving, treasury, underwriting, claims, reinsurance or other areas of an insurance company’s business
  • Good technical accounting knowledge
  • Experience working with multiple reporting currencies
  • Experience reconciling intercompany transactions
  • Experience using accounting systems
  • Knowledge of CODA desirable but not essential
