Key responsibilities & impact

Own Stedi's affirmative disputes from theory, factual development, and demand letters through regulatory complaints and litigation
Build the record before a case through strategy, investigations, preservation, and data analysis
Run regulatory-enforcement matters alongside litigation, including HIPAA Administrative Simplification complaints and state and federal antitrust or insurance-regulatory matters
Defend the company in commercial, customer, and other disputes
Select, scope, and manage outside counsel, specialists, and budgets
Translate disputes into commercial outcomes with the CEO and Legal and Policy teams
Build and automate litigation infrastructure, including litigation holds, preservation and discovery readiness, privilege hygiene, and matter tracking
Keep leadership calibrated through honest assessments and sophisticated reasoning

Requirements

What you’ll need

12+ years litigating complex commercial disputes, with first-chair experience
Experience initiating matters and building cases
Depth in some combination of antitrust and unfair competition, complex contract disputes, and regulatory enforcement
Healthcare and technology backgrounds strongly preferred; deep experience in another heavily regulated, complex industry may also be considered
Resourceful and frugal approach to outside counsel and budgets
Strong judgment and realistic assessment of litigation odds
Strong writing skills; ability to produce largely self-sufficient written work
Ability to understand APIs and communicate credibly with engineers
Ability to work quickly in a fast-moving environment
Philosophical alignment with the Stedi Standards
JD
Membership in at least one U.S. state bar
