About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Support and work on complex and high value legal matters within the Charity sector
  • Provide employment advice and assistance to firm clients and prospective clients
  • Build trusted, long-term client relationships
  • Collaborate across the team and wider firm to deliver high-quality client service
  • Work alongside the HR Consultancy team
  • Participate in business development, including networking, thought leadership and client engagement
  • Identify opportunities to enhance client service and improve ways of working
  • Manage matters to high standards, within deadlines and with commercial awareness
  • Maintain professional and regulatory standards
  • Continue professional development and stay informed of legal and sector developments
  • Manage an individual Employment Tribunal caseload, with supervision where appropriate
  • Review and draft contracts of employment
  • Advise on disciplinary, grievance, TUPE, discrimination, whistleblowing, employment status and pension issues
  • Prepare bespoke contracts, including secondment and consultancy agreements
  • Assist with termination negotiations and settlement agreements
  • Advise within the Charity Commission regulatory framework
  • Prepare cases for Tribunal hearings and carry out advocacy before final hearings where appropriate

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Employment law experience
  • An interest in working with Charity clients
  • Knowledge of Disciplinary and grievance procedures
  • Knowledge of TUPE issues
  • Contract drafting
  • Tribunal Preparation
  • Knowledge and drive to grow business development initiatives
  • Experience in working with charities / third sector clients
  • Strong stakeholder engagement skills and confidence to challenge constructively and offer alternative approaches
  • Solutions focused approach with drive to improve processes and outcomes
  • Strong organisation skills, taking full ownership of tasks and ensuring delivery within agreed deadlines
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey ideas and influence decision-making effectively
  • Adaptable approach in managing workload and supporting others
  • Ability to work collaboratively and team-first attitude
