About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Help lead and grow PF Global’s Schools Team
  • Lead major research and policy projects from initial brief through publication and engagement
  • Set project direction, coordinate colleagues and ensure work is rigorous, useful and delivered on time
  • Frame research questions and work with research specialists to design appropriate approaches
  • Lead research activities and interpret quantitative and qualitative findings
  • Turn evidence into clear and credible policy proposals
  • Write and edit reports, briefings and recommendations
  • Advise senior clients and provide strategic advice
  • Build trusted relationships with clients, policymakers and school leaders
  • Develop engagement plans and present findings
  • Lead discussions with senior stakeholders and represent PF Global at meetings and events
  • Manage and develop colleagues, delegate effectively and provide constructive feedback
  • Identify important questions and new business opportunities
  • Build relationships with prospective clients and contribute to proposals and pitches
  • Develop projects with clear objectives, realistic budgets and achievable plans
  • Manage several projects at different stages while responding to changing priorities and meeting tight deadlines

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Substantial relevant experience
  • Strong understanding of schools policy
  • Strong knowledge of the English school system
  • Understanding of major policy debates and practical realities facing schools, trusts, staff and families
  • Intellectual curiosity and independent judgement
  • Excellent writing and analytical skills
  • Ability to interpret quantitative and qualitative evidence and recognise its limitations
  • Ability to lead complex projects, manage competing demands and maintain attention to detail
  • Ability to communicate clearly and build credibility with senior stakeholders
  • Ability to lead discussions with senior clients, policymakers or school leaders
  • Ability to manage, support and develop colleagues
  • Ability to identify business opportunities and contribute to proposals and pitches
  • Experience in government, Parliament, a multi-academy trust, charity or foundation, think tank, regulator, research or consultancy is relevant
  • Previous experience of winning work is welcome
