About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Own the rendering system that turns compositions of layers, media, and effects into correct pixels for static banners, images, and real-time video
  • Build Canvas 2D functionality for layout, text, shapes, and vector work
  • Implement WebGL and WebGPU shaders for blending, transitions, color grading, and effects
  • Develop a frame-accurate playback pipeline using WebCodecs
  • Keep audio and video synchronized and playback smooth under complex compositions
  • Design and maintain a multi-threaded architecture using Web Workers, OffscreenCanvas, and transferable buffers
  • Optimize performance and memory through texture pooling, allocation-free hot loops, and profiling
  • Use coding assistants and agents in daily development and help shape AI-powered product capabilities
  • Raise engineering standards through code reviews, mentorship, and shared ownership
  • Collaborate across teams to deliver end-to-end value

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Graphics programming on the web: SVG and Canvas at a minimum
  • Serious JavaScript/TypeScript performance engineering, including workers, OffscreenCanvas, memory profiling, and allocating nothing in a hot loop
  • Genuine understanding of video fundamentals: frames, color, decode and encode, and audio/video synchronization
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience delivering graphics, systems, or front-end software in production
  • Ability to define rendering architecture, including WebGL-versus-WebGPU strategy, fallback plans, performance budgets, and memory and threading models
  • Ownership of outcomes from problem through production
  • Ability to improve team output through code reviews, mentoring, and high standards
  • Nice to have hands-on WebGL and/or WebGPU and shader work using GLSL or WGSL
  • Nice to have hands-on WebCodecs experience
  • Nice to have prior work on an NLE, creative tool, or media application
  • Nice to have color management knowledge, including color spaces, gamma, Rec.709, and sRGB
  • Nice to have Rust or C/C++ compiled to WASM for CPU-bound kernels
  • Nice to have Vue.js 3 experience
  • Nice to have familiarity with CI/CD workflows and cloud-based deployments
  • Nice to have experience in a multi-team platform environment with shared components or design systems
