About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Independently manage cases from intake through resolution
  • Develop and execute legal strategies based on factual investigation and legal analysis
  • Communicate substantively with courts and administrative agencies, clients and financial institutions, and opposing counsel
  • Draft and review pleadings, motions, briefs, appeals, agreements, and security instruments
  • Appear at hearings and trials as necessary
  • Work across Medicaid eligibility and reimbursement, administrative appeals, civil litigation, probate and estate claims, and guardianships
  • Participate in onboarding, training, supervision, mentorship, firm trainings, meetings, and firm-sponsored events
  • Work regular Monday–Friday business hours aligned with the respective U.S. time zone

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Juris Doctor from an ABA-accredited law school
  • Minimum of 3 years of substantive legal experience
  • Actively licensed in two or more of NC, SC, and VA; other active licensure will also be considered
  • Strong written and oral advocacy skills
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with a remote team
  • High level of organization, time management, and personal accountability
  • Persistent, resourceful, and proactive problem-solving ability
  • Confidence to own outcomes from start to finish
  • Ability to travel for in-person hearings, firm trainings and meetings, and other firm-sponsored events
  • Proficiency with Mac/Apple operating systems
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365
  • Proficiency with Adobe Acrobat
  • Experience with timekeeping and case management software
  • Proficiency with legal research applications
  • Cover letter, resume, and at least three professional references required for application
