About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Independently manage cases from intake through resolution
- Develop and execute legal strategies based on factual investigation and legal analysis
- Maintain substantive communications with courts and administrative agencies, clients and financial institutions, and opposing counsel
- Draft and review pleadings, motions, briefs, appeals, agreements, and security instruments
- Appear at hearings and trials as necessary
- Work within Medicaid eligibility and reimbursement, administrative appeals, civil litigation, probate and estate claims, and guardianships
- Collaborate with experienced paralegals and centralized operations staff
- Participate in onboarding, training, supervision, mentorship, firm trainings, meetings, hearings, proceedings, and firm events
Requirements
What you’ll need- Juris Doctor from an ABA-accredited law school
- Minimum of 3 years of substantive legal experience
- Active licensure in two or more of NC, SC, TN, and VA; other active licensure considered
- Strong written and oral advocacy skills
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with a remote team
- High level of organization, time management, and personal accountability
- Persistent, resourceful, and proactive problem-solving ability
- Confidence to own outcomes from start to finish
- Ability to travel for in-person hearings, firm trainings and meetings, and other firm-sponsored events
- Mac/Apple operating systems proficiency
- Microsoft Office 365 proficiency
- Adobe Acrobat proficiency
- Experience with timekeeping and case management software
- Proficiency with legal research applications
- Cover letter, resume, and at least three professional references required
