About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Build custom models for customers and across arbitr's platforms
- Own the model pipeline end-to-end from initial experiments through production and beyond
- Build retrieval, memory, reasoning, and orchestration systems around models
- Develop benchmark tooling and evaluation systems
- Track new models and training techniques and integrate relevant advances
- Design research workstreams from problem statement through experiments, findings, and pipeline changes
- Deploy, serve, monitor, and orchestrate models at scale on GPU infrastructure
- Support strategic engagements with global partners
- Provide engineering support across arbitr's platform work, including architecture reviews, AI strategy, and hands-on development
- Provide technical guidance to product, engineering, and partnerships teams
Requirements
What you’ll need- Must have working rights for USA
- Detailed understanding of model building, including LoRA, PT, reinforcement learning, and inference
- Comfort designing and building datasets
- Working background in data science
- Strong Python skills
- Ability to work independently or with a team
- Self-starter mindset and personal accountability for outcomes
- Familiarity with the ideas published at labs.straker.ai, or appetite to get familiar quickly
- Experience training a model from the ground up
- Ability to build real evaluation gates and assess model results
- Willingness to work in a rapidly evolving AI research and engineering environment
