About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Provide technical accounting expertise across capital accounting, prepayments and balance sheet management
  • Ensure financial reporting is accurate, compliant and supported by strong financial controls
  • Use professional judgement to assess accounting treatments
  • Advise colleagues on capitalisation and reporting requirements
  • Ensure financial transactions are supported by robust evidence and controls
  • Contribute to the preparation of statutory accounts and year-end reporting
  • Support audit activity and compliance with accounting and governance requirements
  • Engage with stakeholders to support financial reporting, decision-making and reporting requirements
  • Identify practical solutions and opportunities for process improvement within financial systems and reporting processes

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • CCAB (or equivalent) qualified accountant, or part-qualified accountant with significant relevant accounting experience
  • Experience supporting statutory reporting, audit and compliance activities
  • Experience engaging with stakeholders to support financial reporting, decision-making and reporting requirements
  • Strong technical accounting knowledge with the ability to interpret and apply accounting standards and financial reporting requirements
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to assess financial information and identify practical solutions
  • Ability to communicate technical financial information clearly and effectively to both finance and non-finance stakeholders
  • Ability to build effective working relationships and communicate financial information to a range of stakeholders
  • Sound understanding of financial controls, governance and compliance requirements
  • High level of IT literacy, including Microsoft Excel, financial systems and reporting tools
  • Ability to identify opportunities for process improvement
  • Right to work in the UK
  • Successful completion of employment history, criminal record, credit reference and fraud checks
