About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Work as an integral part of the Carolinas Bridge Practice
- Manage projects involving bridge/structural design
- Manage bridge maintenance inspections and rehabilitation design as applicable
- Provide analysis, design, and inspection of bridges and related structures
- Support and/or lead structural design on transportation projects
- Serve as project manager or bridge design task lead as needed
- Sign and seal bridge plans and roadway structure plans as Engineer of Record
- Manage and/or perform structural calculations, analysis, modeling, and quantification, including Seismic
- Support preparation of technical proposals to win work
- Mentor and motivate junior staff
- Grow and manage a South Carolina-based Bridge Group
- Develop budgets, schedules, proposals, client service plans, and project delivery plans
- Assist in oversight of project delivery and project profitability
- Drive safety and maintain health and safety practices
- Assist in maintaining quality of project deliverables
- Foster and manage bridge client relationships and help procure new business
- Engage in professional societies and meetings to develop relationships with clients and teaming partners and recruit technical staff
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering
- Minimum of 5 years of progressive design experience on structural engineering projects
- Extensive highway structure experience in South Carolina, including Seismic analysis
- Alternative Delivery experience
- Professional Engineer (PE) license in South Carolina required
- Solid structural analysis, load rating, and design skills with an understanding of related engineering disciplines
- Project management skills and ability to plan and coordinate work efforts needed to meet deadlines
- Proficiency in MicroStation
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with ability to form effective relationships with staff and clients
- SCDOT, NCDOT experience, GDOT experience, and/or rail experience is a plus
- NBIS certification is a plus
- Maintenance inspection experience and rehabilitation/repair expertise is a plus
- Open Bridge is a plus
