About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Develop new and existing sponsorship experiences in the core iOS app for creators and their audiences
  • Contribute to high-level product and brainstorming discussions around sponsorship experiences
  • Iterate on key flows in the Substack mobile apps and web platform
  • Run A/B tests
  • Collaborate with designers, writers, support staff, and other teams from product concept and research through implementation, experimentation, and measurement
  • Own work and deliver high-quality solutions
  • Work directly with customers to solve their problems
  • Collaborate directly with Sponsorship partners to gather product ideas and develop solutions for brands and creators
  • Provide code review, mentorship, and thoughtful technical architecture as the iOS leader on the team

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • At least 3+ years of software engineering experience
  • Experience shipping high quality, native iOS apps to the App Store
  • Bonus for experience with both SwiftUI and UIKit
  • Independent and autonomous, with ownership of work and leadership ability
  • High standards when working on production systems
  • Interest in building elegant and delightful product experiences
  • Ability to collaborate with a diverse group of thinkers
  • Belief in Substack’s mission to build a better business model for writing
  • Experience at a fast-growing startup or on a high-performing growth team is a plus, not required
  • Must answer whether immigration support or visa sponsorship will be required to continue working in the United States
  • Must answer whether located in the United States or Canada
