About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Use GAI tools across all stages of the software development lifecycle to accelerate growth and deliver quality work
Learn and adopt team-standard GAI workflows and tools in day-to-day development
Produce clean, readable code following team standards and best practices
Implement well-defined features or sub-components under senior engineer guidance
Write unit tests to verify functionality and support code quality
Identify and fix bugs before feature delivery
Participate in code reviews and provide and receive constructive feedback
Participate in Scrum ceremonies, deliver on sprint commitments, and communicate progress
Work as a member of a Scrum Team alongside experienced engineers
Develop components for various SugarAI products, focusing on reliable, maintainable, and well-tested code
Develop skills across the full software development lifecycle

Requirements

What you’ll need

Familiarity with or enthusiasm for AI-assisted coding tools (e.g. Cursor, GitHub Copilot, Claude Code) — prior experience a plus, but eagerness to learn is required
0–2 years of experience with software development; internship, academic projects, or personal projects are welcome
Foundational knowledge of Object Oriented Programming concepts
Basic experience with web programming (HTML, CSS, JavaScript, or a backend language)
Exposure to version control using Git
Familiarity with unit testing concepts or frameworks
Basic understanding of RESTful APIs — consuming or building
Exposure to SQL or relational database concepts
Familiarity with Agile methodologies (Scrum, sprints, standups) a plus
Experience with cloud platforms (AWS or similar), containers, or CI/CD pipelines is a plus
Strong desire to learn, grow, and take on increasing responsibility over time
Good communication skills and comfort working in a collaborative, cross-functional team
