About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Liaise and correspond with HMRC regarding clearance applications and enquiries.
- Draft reports and letters of advice on tax advisory issues.
- Prepare calculations supporting tax advice.
- Liaise with clients and attend meetings with team members.
- Train and review the work of more junior staff.
- Provide support to Directors and Partners in the Tax Advisory Group.
- Assist with corporate reconstructions, EIS/SEIS investor reliefs, and staff incentive schemes.
- Advise owner-managed businesses on remuneration planning and succession planning.
- Prepare research and development claims, VAT returns, and SDLT returns.
- Advise individuals on IHT planning and CGT mitigation.
- Review corporate tax computations and returns.
Requirements
What you’ll need- Proven experience advising SMEs and owner-managed businesses on a broad range of corporate tax matters.
- Strong technical knowledge of corporation tax, corporate reorganisations, shareholder planning, and business tax advisory.
- Experience reviewing complex corporation tax computations and returns, with the ability to identify tax planning opportunities.
- Strong client relationship management and communication skills, with the ability to deliver clear and practical advice.
- Corporate tax experience is essential.
- Experience in other areas of tax, particularly international tax aspects, is beneficial.
- CTA qualified is advantageous/preferred; ATT, ACA, or ACCA qualified candidates with relevant corporate tax experience will also be considered.
- Ability to liaise with HMRC and clients, draft tax advice, prepare supporting calculations, and review junior staff work.
