About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Mine data for business insights
Analyze and interpret trends using statistical tools and techniques
Report on business performance
Triage code- and data-related issues
Conduct analytics from requirements specification and data gathering through analysis and presentations
Deliver clear, information-rich reports
Support marketing campaigns, client targeting, campaign design, and measurement
Draw business insights from analytical outputs and develop recommendations with team leads
Prepare and present findings to stakeholders at multiple levels
Automate recurring tasks and improve team efficiency
Act as a subject matter expert in client data for stakeholders across Sun Life
Continue developing capabilities through training, peers, and other resources
Contribute to the analytics academy and Sun Life’s data science community

Requirements

What you’ll need

2+ years of experience working with data, including quantitative analysis, data handling, manipulation, analysis, hypothesis testing, data modelling, and data visualization
2+ years of experience with SQL, PySpark, and other programming languages
Ability to write accurate, efficient, and complex SQL queries across multiple database sources
Experience with AWS Cloud Services, including Glue, S3, Athena, and Quick Suite
Experience with Tableau or other visualization tools
Experience using oral and written storytelling to communicate data-driven insights clearly and succinctly
Strong partnering approach and ability to meet business partners’ needs and expectations
Prioritization, planning, and change management skills
Ability to learn new applications and processes quickly with minimal direction
Ability to document work
Reliability Security Clearance required
Ability to satisfactorily complete applicable background checks, law enforcement inquiry, and credit check
Must account for activities during any period of living or travelling outside Canada for 6 consecutive months during the last 5 years
MSc in a statistical, mathematical, or technical field is nice to have, not required
Understanding of predictive and prescriptive techniques is nice to have
Experience in Salesforce is nice to have
Experience developing systems integrated with Generative AI, Agentic AI, or Conversational AI is nice to have
Advanced MS Excel and MS Access skills are nice to have
