About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Handle intake and resolution of inquiries, issues, and general service requests related to employee benefits
  • Communicate Client issues accurately and efficiently to appropriate Sun Life and Client stakeholders
  • Partner with client employees, payroll, human resources, benefits teams, managers, and other personnel
  • Build and maintain relationships with Client staff, vendors, consultants, Sun Life contacts, and teams in other offices
  • Master and apply knowledge of the Client’s Sun Life benefits, benefit plans, internal processes, and products
  • Coordinate accurate employee benefits processing
  • Assist with benefit claims submission and monitor claim progression
  • Process and respond to Employer Verification Forms
  • Participate in Client team meetings and answer questions about Sun Life benefits
  • Provide guidance on benefit administration, disability coverage, paid leave administration, and plan management
  • Use Client administration systems to gather employee status information
  • Create and deliver Client-facing training and presentations
  • Analyze reports, conduct audits, and communicate findings to the Client
  • Perform root cause analysis and communicate trends and improvement opportunities
  • Implement enhancements to benefit administration clarity and measure outcomes
  • Identify ways to improve service performance and measure the Client relationship

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bilingual fluency in Spanish is required
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Minimum of 3+ years of related work experience
  • Ability to navigate and demonstrate sensitivity to the dynamics of being a Sun Life employee dedicated to the Client’s worksite
  • Thorough experience administering disability and absence
  • In-depth knowledge of group insurance products/processes
  • Deep understanding of leave of absence processes, including eligibility requirements, documentation, and coordination with other benefits
  • Excellent customer service skills and superior written and oral communication skills
  • Strong self-motivation, adaptability, and initiative
  • Ability to work with diverse people and handle difficult customer service situations
  • Strong understanding of systems and technology
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
  • Comfort with ambiguity and flexibility to take on evolving responsibilities
  • Thorough understanding of reports and basic data analysis for benefit administration, particularly in an On Demand Reporting Tool
  • Ability to travel 10%
