About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Lead the architecture for Sun Life’s Intelligent Automation platforms
- Define the RPA and Intelligent Automation domain strategy, future-state architectures, standards, reference architectures, and technology roadmaps
- Assess current-state architecture to identify capability gaps, risks, redundant technologies, technical debt, and modernization or consolidation opportunities
- Define future-state architectures for RPA, intelligent document workflows, low-code automation, process mining, workflow orchestration, AI-assisted operations, and Agentic AI applied to business processes
- Establish architecture patterns, guardrails, decision frameworks, and reference architectures for secure, scalable, resilient, auditable, production-ready automation
- Advise business leaders and Technology Executives on architecture direction, options, trade-offs, investments, risks, and expected outcomes
- Drive platform standardization, reusable automation patterns, and citizen and professional development approaches
- Collaborate with enterprise, domain, solution, application, data, cloud, infrastructure, security, privacy, and AI platform architects
- Lead domain architecture governance, including architecture reviews, risk assessments, exception management, and architecture decision records
- Ensure alignment with security, privacy, responsible AI, resilience, operational, regulatory, and compliance requirements
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related discipline
- 10 or more years of progressive architecture experience
- Significant experience designing, governing, and modernizing enterprise RPA, Intelligent Automation, workflow, or business process technology platforms
- Deep expertise in at least one major Intelligent Automation capability
- Broad knowledge across RPA, Intelligent Document Processing, Microsoft Power Platform, process mining, workflow orchestration, Generative AI, and Agentic AI integration patterns
- Demonstrated experience defining architecture strategies, future-state architectures, technology roadmaps, standards, reference architectures, and governance practices
- Proven ability to collaborate with Technology Executives and influence senior business and technology leaders
- Strong strategic thinking and ability to translate business, regulatory, operational, and technology constraints into architecture direction
- Knowledge of AI governance, AI risk management, responsible AI principles, privacy requirements, and enterprise AI adoption patterns
- Ability to assess automation requirements and determine appropriate platforms, integration patterns, architecture approaches, governance controls, and delivery boundaries
- Strong financial and analytical acumen, including investment prioritization, value realization, platform rationalization, technical debt, risk, and technology portfolio trade-offs
- TOGAF, IASA CITA, or equivalent architecture certification preferred
- Relevant certifications in RPA, Microsoft Power Platform, workflow automation, process mining, AI, security, or related technologies considered assets
