About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Manage high-volume investment data for Sun Life’s Canadian entities to support tax processes
  • Analyze large-scale tax and accounting transaction information across investment portfolios and platforms
  • Perform complex calculations for CIF processes, forecasting, and strategic planning
  • Manage tax financial reporting and tax attribute tracking for Canadian companies
  • Determine quarterly income tax provisions under IFRS accurately and on time
  • Assist with government income tax audits and financial statement audits
  • Prepare formal audit responses and participate in walkthroughs
  • Collaborate with the Investment Team and Tax Advisory Team to understand asset movements and ensure tax data integrity
  • Develop and implement processes to improve the efficiency and timeliness of tax deliverables

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Strong understanding of investment accounting, general ledger reconciliations, and financial reporting controls
  • Knowledge of Canadian tax and financial reporting for corporate and non-corporate entities, including partnerships and trusts
  • Knowledge of investment tax reporting
  • Advanced Excel and data manipulation skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Process improvement mindset focused on automation and controls
  • Understanding of insurance and investment management business is an asset
  • Experience with financial applications such as SAP and Tableau is an asset
  • Experience with fund accounting platforms such as PAM/E! is an asset
  • Proficiency in Microsoft 365 applications is essential
  • 5 years of experience
  • CPA designation preferred
