About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Support the Sun Life General Investment Account as part of the FP&A team
  • Support quarterly credit cycle reporting, including preparing agendas, taking minutes, summarizing executive materials, and ensuring accounting-standard compliance
  • Provide technical accounting guidance for complex transactions
  • Assist with the IFRS 9 Expected Credit Loss process and summarize ECL changes
  • Ensure accurate capture of ECL results in the P&L and downstream reporting
  • Perform ad-hoc investigations for queries from various teams and departments
  • Maintain the control environment and support quarterly audit requirements
  • Lead continuous improvement projects to improve team efficiency and add value to internal clients
  • Leverage data and analytical tools to provide insights to senior management

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Experience in the financial services industry with a working understanding of investments and/or insurance
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, change management, and influencing skills
  • Ability to make recommendations to management and influence business decisions based on thorough analysis and available data
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and meet tight reporting deadlines
  • Excellent attention to detail and strong problem-solving skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks
  • Experience working with large data sets and building/improving processes
  • Professional finance designation (CPA, CFA, or MBA) preferred
  • Investment accounting experience, preferably within the asset management or insurance industry
  • IFRS knowledge/experience
  • Working knowledge of SAP or other ledger systems, WEBI, Tableau, and Aladdin
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools, including Excel, Access, and PowerPoint
  • Successful candidates must declare personal investment accounts and securities investments and seek preclearance on future transactions, including household members' transactions
