About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Work with the subrogation vendor to investigate and pursue recoveries on STD and LTD claims
  • Make decisions about liability and compensability, evaluate losses and negotiate settlements
  • Train the Claims department, including LTD and STD teams
  • Provide candid, meaningful feedback and coaching to Claims employees
  • Interpret disability contract and policy language
  • Calculate complex subrogation and monthly benefit calculations
  • Negotiate claims to resolve them fairly and reduce liability for Fullscope RMS and client carrier partners
  • Handle claim files through the various phases of subrogation
  • Review coverage applicability and civil law, including local statutes
  • Respond to written and verbal inquiries from claim-related parties
  • Manage outside vendors and vendor costs
  • Identify subrogation opportunities and obtain recoveries with the vendor
  • Serve as a subject matter expert for third-party and subrogation matters
  • Support claims workflow, departmental development, special projects and programs
  • Conduct internal and external claims audits and training seminars
  • Participate in developing internal policies and procedures
  • Participate in industry and client meetings, presentations and training
  • Complete special projects as necessary
  • Maintain technical knowledge of policies and laws and build strong client and colleague relationships

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Minimum 3 years of previous related work experience
  • 5 years of LTD and STD experience
  • Specific disability product line experience
  • Excellent interpersonal skills for communication, negotiation and investigations
  • Proven interpersonal, analytical and negotiation abilities
  • Ability to provide information clearly and concisely and build effective relationships
  • Ability to exercise independent judgment and make sound business decisions
  • Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to multitask and independently prioritize competing demands
  • Excellent conflict resolution skills
  • Familiarity with claims administration systems
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suites, including Excel, PowerPoint, Word and Outlook
  • Must attain and maintain appropriate TPA licenses in accordance with the Claims Licensing Policy
