About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Build and improve financial models and processes supporting monthly and quarterly reporting
- Analyze expense trends to drive management action and optimize operating expenses
- Use data-driven models to report financial and non-financial metrics with commentary and insights
- Support expense budgeting, forecasting, strategic planning, and annual planning processes
- Develop expense roll-forwards from cycle to cycle
- Recognize and implement continuous improvements
- Document financial models and processes to enable repeatable and sustainable processes
- Build partnerships with business leaders and become a trusted financial advisor
- Lead or support ad hoc financial analysis and consulting, including expense studies and cost-benefit analysis
- Explain common charges and Sun Life’s expense management process to business partners
Requirements
What you’ll need- Financial designation with strong preference for CPA or MBA with commensurate experience
- 5+ years of financial planning, reporting and analysis experience; preferably in Financial Services
- Proficient in MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
- Knowledge of various data management tools (i.e. Tableau, Python, etc.)
- Financial modeling experience
- Expense management experience ideal
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
- Experience building executive-level presentation and content
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment with multiple competing priorities
- Results oriented and critical thinking – high sense of ownership
- Capable of distilling complex concepts into simple key messages and insights
- Comfortable with ambiguity and change
- Strong teamwork, collaboration, relationship management, client orientation, prioritization, organization, analytical thinking, and problem-solving skills
- Demonstrated strength and ability to design and implement processes and standards
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and within a team environment
- Strong financial analysis, reporting, and presentation skills
- Some overtime required during peak reporting periods
