About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Provide first line of defense support to business partners
- Consolidate, analyze, and report business expenses monthly and quarterly
- Build and improve financial models and processes supporting reporting
- Analyze expense trends and provide insights to optimize operating expenses
- Report financial and non-financial metrics with commentary and insights
- Support expense budgeting, forecasting, strategic planning, and annual planning
- Develop expense roll forwards between planning cycles
- Implement continuous improvements and document models and processes
- Build partnerships with business leaders and serve as a trusted financial advisor
- Lead or support ad hoc financial analysis and consulting, including expense studies and cost-benefit analysis
- Explain common charges and Sun Life’s expense management process to business partners
Requirements
What you’ll need- Financial designation with strong preference for CPA or MBA with commensurate experience
- 5+ years of financial planning, reporting and analysis experience; preferably in Financial Services
- Proficient in MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
- Knowledge of various data management tools (i.e. Tableau, Python, etc.)
- Financial modeling experience
- Expense management experience ideal
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
- Experience building executive-level presentation and content
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment with multiple competing priorities
- Results oriented and critical thinking with high sense of ownership
- Ability to distill complex concepts into simple key messages and insights
- Comfortable with ambiguity and change
- Strong teamwork, collaboration, relationship management, client orientation, prioritization, organization, problem solving, and analytical thinking skills
- Ability to design and implement processes and standards
- Strong financial analysis, reporting and presentation skills
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and within a team environment
- Some overtime required during peak reporting periods
