About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Provide ongoing support for Java-based applications in production and test environments
  • Respond to service requests and perform incident and problem analysis
  • Perform service restoration and recovery, security vulnerability remediation, audits, and reporting
  • Design, develop, test, and debug Java service programs
  • Deploy applications using Kubernetes containers
  • Interface with Software Engineers, Business Systems Analysts, and other stakeholders to deliver high-quality solutions
  • Maintain a stable application environment through proactive monitoring, security compliance, change management, troubleshooting, and root-cause analysis
  • Identify and participate in continuous improvement, system renewal, stability, upgrade, and Disaster Recovery projects
  • Participate in an on-call and after-hours support rotation

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent discipline
  • At least 10 years of information technology experience in Java application support and development
  • 10+ years of experience with Java, JavaScript, HTML, XML, and CSS
  • Experience with Java Enterprise Edition technologies, including Servlet, JDBC, and JSP
  • Experience with Spring framework
  • Understanding of ITIL, CMMI, and SDLC methodologies
  • 4+ years of experience with ReactJS/React.js
  • Experience with Kubernetes and Docker
  • Experience with Java SpringBoot and SpringMVC
  • Experience with Web Security/OWASP
  • Experience with SOAP, REST API, Java APIs, and JSON
  • Experience with SQL, Oracle, and PostgreSQL
  • Experience with Jenkins, Artifactory, Bitbucket/Git, Gradle, Maven, CDD, and Ansible
  • Experience with Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA)
  • Experience with Kafka and light car proxy
  • Canadian Protected-B (Reliability clearance), requiring a minimum of 5 years of consecutive residency in Canada
  • Ability to work independently and in a dynamic environment with changing priorities
  • Strong technical, analytical, debugging, problem-solving, written communication, and verbal communication skills
  • Collaboration and teamwork skills
  • Preferred: exposure to Agile frameworks such as Kanban and Scrum
  • Nice to have: experience with AWS-hosted applications/servers
  • Nice to have: exposure to Confluence, JIRA, and MS Teams
  • Nice to have: knowledge of WebSphere/WebLogic middleware technologies
