About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Develop, maintain, and enhance data ingestion, transformation, and delivery pipelines using Python, SQL, and Apache Airflow
- Design and optimize tables and data models for analytical and operational needs
- Work with Data Lake technologies, Amazon S3, Apache Iceberg, and Trino
- Integrate data from relational databases, APIs, files, and internal and external systems
- Ensure data quality, consistency, traceability, security, and availability
- Develop validations, alerts, metrics, and pipeline monitoring mechanisms
- Investigate data and performance issues, addressing root causes and preventing recurrence
- Support analysts, data scientists, and business teams in defining requirements and building solutions
- Contribute to the evolution of data architecture, governance, and access control practices
- Create and maintain technical documentation covering pipelines, tables, business rules, and architectural decisions
- Develop readable, testable, and maintainable code; participate in code reviews and share knowledge
- Identify opportunities for automation, simplification, and efficiency gains
- Monitor production solutions and take ownership of data product reliability
Requirements
What you’ll need- Strong experience with Python, SQL, and Apache Airflow, particularly in building and maintaining data pipelines
- Hands-on experience with Data Lakes and distributed storage and processing architectures
- Experience with Amazon S3, Apache Iceberg, Trino, or equivalent solutions
- Solid knowledge of Data Engineering fundamentals, regardless of the tools used
- Senior, hands-on profile with experience building, operating, and supporting pipelines on a daily basis
- Autonomy to investigate issues, make technical decisions, and lead solutions from inception through production
- Consistent professional track record, with the ability to explain career decisions and transitions
- Experience with PostgreSQL, Superset, and Docker (preferred)
- Experience with CI/CD practices (preferred)
- Experience monitoring and supporting pipelines in production (preferred)
- Experience in fintechs, startups, or agile, low-bureaucracy environments (preferred)
- Interest in architecture, automation, and the continuous evolution of data infrastructure (preferred)
