About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Partner with program leadership to develop employee capabilities and improve business operations
  • Develop and implement HR strategies and client-specific initiatives to recruit, retain, and develop the workforce
  • Develop and implement HR department process improvements and assist with day-to-day operations
  • Respond to employee and program leadership correspondence and guidance
  • Maintain accurate, current, confidential HR files, records, and documentation
  • Assist with talent reviews, succession planning, and retention assessments
  • Advise, coach, teach, and train management and employees on HR practices, policies, and procedures
  • Perform administrative and record-keeping tasks related to staffing changes, layoffs, resignations, terminations, and extended leaves
  • Manage the full onboarding cycle, including I-9 processing, document verification, paperwork, offer letters, and onboarding materials
  • Conduct weekly new-hire orientation sessions
  • Partner with leadership and recruiting throughout onboarding and offboarding
  • Answer employee and candidate questions regarding policies, benefits, and hiring processes
  • Complete termination and offboarding tasks in the HRIS
  • Assist payroll with offboarding, final-pay calculations, final checks, employee questions, and processing errors
  • Draft exit interview emails and maintain terminated-employee documents
  • Provide clerical and direct benefits support to employees
  • Recommend development plans and performance counseling to program leaders
  • Coach program leaders on leadership strategies, employee needs, job satisfaction, and compliance
  • Develop and implement HR plans with program leaders and the HR team
  • Assist with annual HR events and communications, performance management, engagement, and talent reviews
  • Monitor external trends, practices, and resources
  • Implement engagement initiatives including surveys, inclusion and diversity, and annual training
  • Champion Surefox’s mission and values
  • Perform other assigned duties

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 5 years of experience working in a high-volume, ideally in a high growth early, stage startup
  • Bachelor's Degree in HR, Business Management, or a related field
  • 5 years of experience performing HR generalist responsibilities with exposure to talent management, employee relations, performance management, compensation, benefits, training, and development
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and local labor laws related to employment; prior experience in California preferred
  • Must be eligible for employment within the United States
  • Must be able to pass an extensive background check and drug screening
  • Proven experience with Microsoft Office, G-Suite, Workday, or equivalent HRIS
  • Ability to work independently and as a member of cross-functional teams
  • Ability to prioritize and manage competing projects
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to be flexible with changing business priorities and to work with a sense of urgency
  • Strong results orientation and a history of driving positive change with measurable results
  • Excellent organizational skills, including the ability to work effectively under pressure and deal with multiple priorities
  • Demonstrated ability to handle confidential material and information in an ethical, professional manner
  • Professional in Human Resources (PHR) certification is desired
  • Military background is a plus
