About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Drive development of a national youth thriving dataset spanning four surveys and thousands of young people
- Transform the YMHT platform from static dashboards into an interactive data-query interface
- Work with the Engineering team to build AI-driven prototypes enabling partners to interrogate YMHT data independently
- Lead peer-reviewed manuscripts and validation papers establishing YMHT as a scientific authority in youth mental health
- Design methods, write rigorous analyses, and engineer systems supporting the US Youth Mental Health Tracker
- Collaborate with research leadership, domain experts, product, and engineering teams
Requirements
What you’ll need- A PhD or equivalent with 5+ years hands-on, end-to-end quantitative research experience
- Strong command of statistical methods
- Advanced proficiency in R and/or Python for analysis and data work
- Solid data science skills
- Experience working with Databricks and Azure alongside product and engineering teams
- Experience applying LLMs/GenAI to research and analytics workflows
- Experience building composite indices or measurement frameworks and/or geospatial analysis is a strong plus
- Desire to work in a fast-paced startup environment amidst uncertainty
- Desire to learn new skills and a new domain beyond your area of expertise
- Clear scientific and technical communication in English, written and verbal
- Washington DC-based and able to work in the DC office two days per week
