About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Administer production SQL Server environments, including performance tuning, indexing, query optimization, schema changes, and stored procedures
Plan and execute major version upgrades with minimal downtime
Own database monitoring and alerting
Manage transaction log sizing, maintenance jobs, and index health
Operate and maintain data replication tooling
Automate credential rotation and enforce encryption and access controls
Participate in high-availability and disaster recovery testing
Validate backups and restores
Support PostgreSQL and MySQL-compatible cloud database migrations and upgrades
Support application teams with design reviews and incident troubleshooting
Write SOPs and mentor engineers
Participate in an on-call rotation

Requirements

What you’ll need

8+ years as a SQL Server DBA in production, high-availability environments
Deep T-SQL, execution plan analysis, and performance tuning skills
Experience with Always On availability groups, backup and restore strategy, and disaster recovery
Experience running SQL Server in AWS
Automation with PowerShell or Python
Disciplined change management
PostgreSQL administration and upgrades (nice to have)
MySQL-compatible managed databases (nice to have)
Data replication tools (nice to have)
Infrastructure as code (nice to have)
Willingness to work from the SurveyMonkey office in Bengaluru 3 days per week
Willingness to relocate to Bengaluru if not currently located there
