About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Perform diagnostic cardiac sonography procedures to assess cardiac structures and hemodynamics
- Perform commonly conducted echocardiography procedures with a high level of competence
- Perform transesophageal echocardiograms with or without three-dimensional imaging
- Perform intraoperative transesophageal echocardiograms
- Support structural heart procedures in the cardiac catheterization laboratory
- Perform complex congenital pediatric echocardiograms
- Float between and support multiple sites
- Perform specific procedures as assigned
- Orient other staff to the department as needed
- Prioritize assignments and meet deadlines within standardized policies, procedures, and scientific methods
- Maintain patient privacy and protect PHI
- Collaborate with peers and healthcare providers to achieve departmental and organizational objectives
Requirements
What you’ll need- Graduate from an accredited Cardiac Sonography Program, or graduation from an accredited formal Diagnostic Medical Sonography Program or equivalent education that meets the credentialing requirement pathway
- RCS (CCI)—Registered Cardiac Sonographer or ARDMS (RDCS AE for adult or RDCS PE for pediatric)
- BLS—Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider
- Level I: No experience required
- Level II: Minimum of 2 years of experience
- Experience with resting echo and stress echo highly preferred
- Intermediate knowledge of diagnostic cardiac sonography principles, procedures, and views
- Knowledge of operation and maintenance of imaging equipment
- Experience responding to traumas and various hospital emergencies
- Proficiency performing cardiac sonographic examinations
- Understanding of human anatomy, physiology, pathology, and medical terminology
- Written and verbal communication skills
- Time management and organizational skills
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, RIS, LIS, EHR, EPIC, and PACS
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Ability to identify, evaluate, and resolve standard problems
- Ability to protect patient PHI
- Ability to collaborate with peers and healthcare providers
