About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Perform diagnostic cardiac sonography procedures to assess cardiac structures and hemodynamics
- Perform commonly conducted echocardiography procedures with a high level of competence
- Perform transesophageal echocardiograms with or without three-dimensional imaging
- Perform intraoperative transesophageal echocardiograms
- Perform structural heart procedures in the cardiac catheterization lab
- Perform complex congenital pediatric echocardiograms
- Perform specific procedures as assigned
- Orient other staff to the department when needed
- Prioritize assignments and meet deadlines
- Collaborate with peers and healthcare providers to achieve departmental and organizational objectives
- Protect patient PHI
Requirements
What you’ll need- Graduate from an accredited Cardiac Sonography Program, or graduation from an accredited formal Diagnostic Medical Sonography Program or equivalent education meeting the credentialing requirement pathway
- RCS (CCI)-Registered Cardiac Sonographer or ARDMS (RDCS AE for adult or RDCS PE for pediatric)
- BLS-Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider
- 2 years recent relevant experience
- Intermediate knowledge of diagnostic cardiac sonography principles, procedures, views, and imaging equipment operation and maintenance
- Experience responding to traumas and various hospital emergencies
- Proficiency performing cardiac sonographic examinations
- Solid understanding of human anatomy, physiology, pathology, and medical terminology
- Written and verbal communication skills
- Time management and organizational skills
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, RIS, LIS, EHR, EPIC, and PACS
- Ability to prioritize assignments and work within standardized policies, procedures, and scientific methods
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in an environment with interruptions
- Ability to identify, evaluate, and resolve standard problems using established options
- Ability to ensure patient PHI privacy
- Ability to collaborate with peers and healthcare providers
