About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Provide administrative leadership and direction for nursing and patient-care education programs and training
- Manage activities and resources of the Nursing Education department
- Lead, guide, and motivate clinical educators
- Assess and evaluate customer needs and satisfaction with education and professional development programs
- Direct and implement quality improvement initiatives
- Support Sutter Health’s mission of delivering high-quality, cost-effective nursing care
- Supervise or coordinate interdepartmental and intradepartmental staff education programs and in-services
- Develop and implement staff-education policies and procedures
- Provide input for nursing and patient-care services policies and procedures
- Participate on Medical Staff and ad-hoc committees
- Participate in quality improvement practices and initiatives
- Split time between both hospitals to assist in ANCC Pathways of Excellence designation
Requirements
What you’ll need- BSN or MSN Preferred
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
- BLS -Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider
- RN -Registered Nurse of California
- 12 years recent relevant experience
- ANCC Accreditation experience preferred
- Clinical proficiency and knowledge to plan and coordinate clinical education consistent with applicable standards and regulations
- Seasoned knowledge of systems and technology supporting educational system processes
- Working knowledge of current regulatory requirements, including Board of Registered Nursing Standards for Continuing Education, TJC, DHS, and Title 22 specifications
- Knowledge of business and operational requirements and ability to establish goals
- Knowledge of evidence-based nursing practice, performance improvement, lean methodologies, and adult learning methodologies
- Understanding of the budgetary process and healthcare financial environment
- Ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to work with diverse populations while respecting cultural and linguistic differences
