Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Equivalent experience accepted in lieu of the required degree or diploma
  • High School Diploma or GED or equivalent education/experience
  • 2 years recent relevant experience
  • Familiarity with general legal office practices and functions
  • Familiarity with basic legal terminology
  • Ability to distinguish between legal documents, including bylaws, articles, summons, complaints, and subpoenas
  • Understanding of legal time constraints and deadlines associated with filing court documents and responding to requests and subpoenas
  • Ability to prepare legal documents and reports from general instructions using approved formats
  • Knowledge of business English composition and basic grammar, spelling, and punctuation
  • Ability to compose, proofread, and edit correspondence and memorandums
  • Ability to type 60 to 70 WPM by touch for an extended period
  • Critical thinking and attention to detail
  • Organization skills to manage and reprioritize activities and projects to meet deadlines
