About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Provide clinical and clerical support to providers and patient care teams
  • Perform back-office and patient-related tasks supporting high-quality patient care
  • Help ensure smooth patient and workflow within the department
  • Assist the patient care team in implementing the medical plan of care
  • Integrate education, technical competence, and patient interaction skills to gain patient and family cooperation
  • Perform all duties under the direction of a clinician
  • Take vital signs, prepare patients for examinations, and administer injections
  • Work day shifts, Monday through Friday, with occasional weekend requirements

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED)
  • Completion of a course of study consistent with California Medical Board requirements for Medical Assistants, or an equivalent approved Sutter Health training program, or equivalent Sutter Health on-the-job medical assisting training
  • Must present diploma within 90 days
  • BLS-Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider certification
  • 1 year of recent relevant experience in Pediatrics
  • General knowledge of medical procedures, views, and equipment
  • Basic understanding of human anatomy, physiology, pathology, and medical terminology
  • Competence and validation in basic Medical Assisting skills, including taking vital signs, preparing patients for exams, and administering injections
  • Ability to interpret written, oral, diagram, and schedule-based data and instructions
  • Written and verbal communication skills for explaining sensitive information clearly and professionally to diverse audiences
  • Time management and organizational skills, including prioritization and meeting deadlines
  • General knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, and Outlook) and electronic health records (EHR)
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, manage multiple tasks amid interruptions, resolve standard problems using established options, and collaborate with peers and healthcare providers
