About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Provide clinical and clerical support to providers and patient care teams
- Perform back-office and patient-related tasks supporting high-quality patient care
- Help ensure smooth patient and workflow within the department
- Assist the patient care team in implementing the medical plan of care
- Apply education, technical competence, and patient interaction skills to gain patient and family cooperation
- Perform all duties under the direction of a clinician
- Take vital signs, prepare patients for examinations, and administer injections
- Manage, store, prepare, receive, unpack, transport, dispose of, or administer hazardous drugs when required
- Work Monday through Friday on the day shift
Requirements
What you’ll need- High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED)
- Graduate of a Medical Assistant program; must present diploma within 90 days
- Completion of Medical Assistant externship (160 hours)
- BLS-Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider certification
- 1 year of recent relevant experience
- General knowledge of medical procedures, views, and equipment
- Basic understanding of human anatomy, physiology, pathology, and medical terminology
- Competence in basic Medical Assisting skills, including taking vital signs, preparing patients for exams, and administering injections
- Ability to interpret written, oral, diagram, and schedule-based data and instructions
- Written and verbal communication skills
- Time management and organizational skills
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, and Outlook) and electronic health records (EHR)
- Ability to prioritize assignments and meet deadlines within standardized procedures
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in an interruption-prone environment
- Ability to identify, evaluate, and resolve standard problems using established solutions
- Ability to build collaborative relationships with peers and healthcare providers
- Ability to manage hazardous drugs in accordance with NIOSH and USP 800 guidelines
