About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Provide clinical and clerical support to providers and patient care teams
- Perform back-office and patient-related tasks supporting high-quality patient care
- Help ensure smooth patient and workflow within the department
- Assist the patient care team in implementing the medical plan of care
- Integrate education, technical competence, and patient interaction skills to gain patient and family cooperation
- Perform all duties under the direction of a clinician
- Take vital signs, prepare patients for examinations, and administer injections
- Work Monday through Friday, day shift, with no weekend requirements
Requirements
What you’ll need- High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED)
- Completion of a course of study consistent with Medical Assistant requirements specified by the Medical Board of California (must present diploma within 90 days), or equivalent Sutter Health training program, or Sutter Health on-the-job training equivalent to one year
- BLS-Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider certification
- 1 year of recent relevant experience
- General knowledge of medical procedures, views, and equipment
- Basic understanding of human anatomy, physiology, pathology, and medical terminology
- Competence and validation in basic Medical Assisting skills, including taking vital signs, preparing patients for exams, and administering injections
- Ability to interpret written, oral, diagram, or schedule-based data and instructions
- Written and verbal communication skills for explaining sensitive information clearly and professionally to diverse audiences
- Time management and organizational skills, including prioritization and meeting deadlines within standardized procedures
- General knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and electronic health records (EHR)
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, manage multiple tasks amid interruptions, resolve standard problems, and collaborate with healthcare providers
