About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Provide clinical and clerical support to providers and patient care team members
  • Perform back-office and patient-related tasks supporting high-quality patient care
  • Help ensure smooth patient and workflow within the department
  • Assist the patient care team in implementing the medical plan of care
  • Integrate education, technical competence, and patient interaction skills to gain patient and family cooperation
  • Perform all duties under the direction of a clinician
  • Work day shifts, Monday through Friday, with weekends as needed
  • Handle, store, prepare, receive, unpack, transport, dispose of, or administer hazardous drugs when applicable

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED)
  • Graduate of a Medical Assistant program; must present diploma within 90 days
  • Completion of Medical Assistant externship (160 hours)
  • BLS-Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider certification
  • 1 year of recent relevant experience
  • General knowledge of medical procedures, views, and equipment
  • Basic understanding of human anatomy, physiology, pathology, and medical terminology
  • Competency in basic Medical Assisting skills, including taking vital signs, preparing patients for exams, and administering injections
  • Ability to interpret written, oral, diagram, or schedule-based data and instructions
  • Written and verbal communication skills to explain sensitive information clearly and professionally to diverse audiences
  • Time management and organizational skills, including prioritization and meeting deadlines
  • General knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and electronic health records (EHR)
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in an interrupted, multi-task environment
  • Ability to identify, evaluate, and resolve standard problems using established options
  • Ability to build collaborative relationships with peers and healthcare providers
  • Ability to handle hazardous drugs in accordance with NIOSH and USP 800 guidelines
