Key responsibilities & impact
  • Provide clinical and clerical support to providers and patient care teams
  • Perform back-office and patient-related tasks supporting high-quality patient care

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED)
  • Completion of a course of study consistent with Medical Assistant requirements specified by the Medical Board of California, with diploma presented within 90 days
  • OR completion of Sutter Health on-the-job training in medical assisting equivalent to one year
  • BLS-Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider certification
  • 1 year of recent relevant experience
  • General knowledge of medical procedures, views, and equipment
  • Basic understanding of human anatomy, physiology, pathology, and medical terminology
  • Competent and validated in basic Medical Assisting skills, including taking vital signs, preparing patients for exams, and administering injections
  • Ability to interpret written, oral, diagram, or schedule-based data and instructions
  • Written and verbal communication skills to explain sensitive information clearly and professionally to diverse audiences
  • Time management and organizational skills, including prioritization and meeting deadlines
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, and Outlook) and electronic health records (EHR)
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in an interruption-filled environment
  • Ability to identify, evaluate, and resolve standard problems using established options
  • Ability to collaborate with peers and healthcare providers
  • Must present diploma within 90 days where applicable
